“Reasons?” is a drama motion picture that deals with circumstances that everyday people have to face in their life. With the new stance against smoking in the last decade, “Reasons?” will help show why quitting smoking is a wise decision for the average human being.

Four childhood friends decide to try smoking after watching their parents smoking in the living room. Fast forward twenty years, the group is still friends, but now they face the challenge of quitting after years of smoking, each choosing to quit for a different reason. Now faced with the challenges of fighting their dependence on nicotine, will they each have the power to overcome what faces them, or will they let their addiction rule their lives?

PRODUCTION STRATEGIES
The key to any successful budgeted independent film is to minimize as many expenses as possible while maximizing on-screen production value. In this business model, keeping costs under control is essential. Ensuring that a project is “in the can” for the right cost can help ensure a lucrative post-production distribution deal. Delivering the project on time, below the budget is a must. We are determined to bring this film under our estimated budget to prove that a dramatic film with good moral values can rival Hollywood blockbusters. The items on this page discuss some of the strategies Chatterbox Productions, Inc. will implement to keep to its budget.

FLORIDA FILM TAX INCENTIVES:
The State of Florida offers tax incentives to qualifying film and television productions. According to the state’s minimum requirements, any film with a budget that reaches or exceeds the minimum of $100,000 may take advantage of a 20% – 30% tax transferable credit, not to exceed $125,000, on every dollar spent in the state, whether on rentals or payroll to any Florida resident. With a budget over the required limit and our company contacting the department early, our project is certainly eligible to take advantage of these incentives. The only thing is is that we cannot apply before 90 days prior to shooting. We also plan on utilizing the SAG incentives such as the Background Actor Incentive and the Diversity- in-Casting Incentive.

THE TOOLS:
The viability of making a profit on an independent film has greatly increased in the last five years, but it’s still a tough market. As high-definition digital video has continued to increase in quality, the reasons to shoot on actual celluloid have all but evaporated and so have the 40%-50% cost increases associated with it. We plan on using the Red One MX Camera or the Black URSA to shoot Reasons?, allowing us to film the movie at the same quality as big block-buster films.
